For other orders, the reader will be notified of their completion – according to the submission method – by email or on-site.
Access to the card catalog is closed.
LOANS
The Library of the Institute of Art History at the University of Warsaw participates in the computerized Interdepartmental Loan System (SWM/BUW). SWM/BUW regulations apply.
Special collections and periodicals are not borrowable and are available for on-site consultation only. The same applies to books:
- Published before 1950
- From the reference collection
- Temporarily reserved for on-site use by teaching staff,
- In poor condition,
- For other reasons justified by the librarian.
A maximum of 5 volumes can be ordered at one time for the reading room; in exceptional cases, the number of volumes can be increased at the librarian’s dicretion.
In case of damage or loss of a borrowed book, the reader is required to provide an identical copy or the latest edition of the same author and title or bear the binding costs. Until the overdue account is settled, the reader may only use the collections on-site.
Unavailable publications can be reserved when ordering.
Increased loan limits apply:
- Up to 20 volumes for 90 days for UW employees and PhD students,
- Up to 10 volumes for 30 days for UW students
INTERLIBRARY LOANS
The library loans its collections to individual readers from Warsaw libraries (UW departmental libraries and libraries of cooperating institutions) on an interlibrary loan slip. This document must contain a legible signature of the issuing person and the stamp of the institution.
We do not process interlibrary loan requests sent by post or email. Each interlibrary loan is approved by the Head of the library.
BOOK RETURNS
If the three-time renewal limit for a book has not been exhausted, the return date can be extended:
- Online
- By email: infobiblio.ihs@uw.edu.pl (if the book was borrowed traditionally on a paper request slip).
Books can also be returned by mail at the sender’s expense to the address: Library of the Institute of Art History, Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28, 00-927 Warsaw. The return date is the day the package is delivered to the library, not the shipping date.
